Food, fun, fireworks: Plainfield's Patriotic Picnic
Sparks will fly Saturday night as the Plainfield Park District hosts its annual Patriotic Picnic, topped off by a fireworks display. The event will be 5 to 9 p.m. at Plainfield Central High School, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive. Admission is free. Click here to read more.

Raze Historic Building?
The coming fiscal year budget for the Plainfield Park District may include money to demolish a couple of buildings, including one county historians had asked them to consider saving. The Clow-Stephens house, in Clow-Stephens Park, which is under construction, was likely built in the 1870s, county land use officials say. Its architectural integrity is high, in that it has not changed much since it was built. But it is not a building the park district can use and would be expensive to renovate, said Cameron Bettin, the park district's superintendent of planning. Click here to read more.
