Staff from Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie in Wilmington will be conducting a free tour for Conservation Plainfield. The driven tour will be led by Midewin staff with participants following in personal vehicles. The tour will include a full overview of the largest tallgrass prairie east of the Mississippi River and a rich history of its evolution. Transportation from Plainfield to Midewin is available on a limited basis. Participants that utilize this service are asked to meet in the parking lot of the Plainfield Park District’s Recreation/Administration, 23729 W. Ottawa St., at 8 a.m. Those who drive to Midewin on their own are asked to meet no later than 8:45 a.m. at the Midewin Welcome Center, located at 30239 South State Route 53, Wilmington. The tour will begin promptly at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is required and will be taken until Friday, July 16.
